Born into the renowned Monoharshahi Gharana, Dr. Harekrishna Halder began his musical journey at the age of four under the guidance of his father, Late Shri Shyamapada Halder.

Over more than four decades of dedicated practice, performance, research and teaching, he has emerged as one of the foremost exponents of Mridanga, or Shreekhol.

His contribution extends far beyond performance. Through concerts, education, research, publications and institution-building, Dr. Halder has worked to preserve the authentic Guruparampara tradition while introducing the artistic possibilities of Shreekhol to contemporary audiences.
